bank account

6th November 2002

Dear Members of the London-Russia Society,

Several of you have written asking about the fate of cheques you wrote in August which have still not been banked and I understand your worries. If you have tried to open a business (or club) account since the new post September 11 regulations came in, you will understand our predicament. Another form has just been brought out which will delay the opening of our
account still further but I have been assured that at the end of this week or at the very beginning of next week the account will be open and the cheques paid in.

As we all live in different places, by the time the relevant documents had all been sent to the one bank, another regulation had been introduced and more documents were needed. We apologize for this delay; it isn’t that we haven’t received the cheques, they are at present at the bank in their safe-keeping and waiting to be paid in, that is, all those written up to the middle of October. I still have those sent later and am waiting for a paying-in book to credit them to the account. Please bear with us a little bit longer. I hope this explains the situation and we do apologize for the delay.

Yours
Anna Bennigsen
Hon Treasurer
