PUSHKIN THE STORYTELLER

1) Antony Wood will discuss Pushkin’s great ballad THE BRIDEGROOM, and its relation to its and Scottish, German and Russian models and precursors. He will then read his English translation; Oleg Fedorov will read the original.
2) Robert Chandler will discuss, then read his translation of one of Pushkin’s finest, most extraordinary, and most fragmentary, works: THE EGYPTIAN NIGHTS.
THE BRIDEGROOM is published by Angel Books; THE EGYPTIAN NIGHTS, together with DUBROVSKY, will be published in June 2003 by Hesperus.
