Next Lecture Reminder

27th June 2003

Dear Member,

This is a reminder that the next talk of the GB-Russia Society will take
place on Tuesday 1st July at 6.45pm at the Cardinal Inn, 23 Francis Street,
London SW1. Sol Shulman, film producer-director-writer-extraordinaire, will
be speaking in Russian on the subject of his recently published book “Kings
of the Kremlin – Russia and her leaders from Ivan the Terrible to the
present day. “a tale of corruptive instincts, the ebb and flow of national
fortunes, dark deeds in the crucible of power and a sinister pursuit of
patronage and influence”. The talk will be illustrated with Sol’s unique
collection of photos which he rescued from various archives soon after the
collapse of the Soviet Union.

Sol Shulman has had a fascinating and unusual international career in film,
TV and writing. For many years he specialised on travel documentaries about
the most remote regions and people of the former Soviet Union. In more
recent times, he has written on various aspects of Russian life and customs.
His books “Aliens over Russia” and “Russia dies Laughing” received
particular acclaim amongst Russian emigre communities all over the world and
within Russia when they were eventually published there in the early
nineties.

Seats cost £5 and may be booked in advance from Ute Chatterjee on 07866
849599 or by email on [removed]
