The RBCC is running a trade mission to Arkhangelsk in March 2005. Arkhangelsk
presents many opportunities for UK business and caters for a number of different
PORTS: The port of Arkhangelsk is Russia's oldest seaport, a port which today
remains crucial to international trade and domestic shipping along the Arctic
FORESTRY: Forestry consists the basis of the economy in the region. Every third
cubic metre of Russia's exported lumber is produced in the region, plus one
quarter of all domestically produced pulp.
NATURAL RESOURCES: The Arkhangelsk region is rich in natural resources such as
natural gas, oil, peat and a variety or ores.
The region is continually striving to attract investment and thus aim to create
a stable market infrastructure, facilitate private sector growth, enhance small
business and integrate European Russia's northern territories into the Barents
region's social and economic system by attracting both Russian and foreign
investment. The opportunities for investment are therefore numerous.
