Dear All
Anna Reid will talk about her book, THE SHAMAN'S COAT, A native History of Siberia,
at THE PUSHKIN CLUB, 72 QUEENSBROUGH TERRACE, W2
26 April, 7.15 for 7.30 p.m. Tickets: £4 (£3 conc.) at the door.
Tel: 020-7221-1981. www.pushkinclub.org.uk
Nearest undergrounds: Bayswater (District and Circle Lines),
Queensway (Central Line). Queensborough Terrace is off the Bayswater Road, a short walk
from either underground though Queensway Underground is just a little nearer.
Part history, part travelogue, THE SHAMANS COAT investigates the indigenous Siberians,
Russia's equivalent to the Native Americans or Australian Aborigines. Drawing on interviews
with whale hunters and reindeer-herders, camp survivors and Party apparatchiks, it travels
through four hundred years of history and across a twelfth of the world's land surface,
from Mongolia to the Bering Strait.
Best wishes
Ute
