The story is told through the eyes of 26-year-old Georgian-born first time director Gela Babluani, son of well-known Georgian filmmaker Temur Babluani

Intensely engaging and uniquely insightful 13 (Tzameti) is a thrillingly surreal journey that begins with the descent of a young French-Georgian man, Sebastien (Georges Babluani), into a sinister criminal underworld in which men gamble on each others lives in a shockingly brutal new sport…

Sebastien (Georges Babluani), a clean-faced 20-year-old who lives in dire straits with his immigrant Georgian family, is hired to repair the roof of the morphine-addicted Godon (Philippe Passon). The old man dies before Sebastien can be paid, but not before the boy overhears a conversation that seems to promise easy money. He impulsively decides to follow the instructions meant for Godon and see where they lead him. Once Sebastien steps on a train with his filched first-class ticket, events start moving quickly. Unbeknown to him, the police are following his every move — but why?

From this point onwards there is no turn back for Sebastien… just when it seems the story is dissolving in a wild goose chase, Sebastien comes face to face with a ring of clandestine gamblers who bet on human lives. Arriving at a secluded house in the woods, Sebastien suddenly finds himself Player No. 13 in a terrible game. Trapped in a situation he can do nothing about, he loses his innocence before the first round is over.

13 (Tzameti), scooped the `The Lion of the Future Award¹ For Best First Film and has just been officially selected for competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
