EVENING FILM at Imperial War Museum North.
Tuesday 16 May, 6.00-8.00 pm in the Main Exhibition Space.
Cinemaphonia will be a unique projection of film from the Soviet state
archives, screened to a recording of Shostakovich's powerful 7th
(Leningrad) Symphony. The film depicts peace and progress in the pre-war
Soviet Union, the rise of Nazism and the brutal war on the Eastern front,
reflecting the themes of the symphony's movements: Invasion, Memories,
Homeland and Triumph. The evening will be introduced by writer, lecturer
and film curator John Riley. Tickets cost £6 (including drinks and car

The evening also offers the opportunity to view RIA Novosti's SOVIET TIMES
photo exhibition which runs until June 4 at the Museum.
