ELSIE INGLIS – Doctor on the Russian Front in WW1
Elsie Inglis was founder of the Scottish Womens' Hospitals and one of the
most outstanding medical figures of the early 20C. In 1916 she formed a
unit to provide medical support for Yugoslav divisions on the SE Russian
front between the Danube and the Black Sea. They were caught up in a
chaotic retreat through Russia, witnessing all the events of 1917 until
they were evacuated from Arkhangelsk in early November.
Prof Audrey Fawcett will give a talk on Dr Inglis' experiences, based on
diaries and other personal records.
A copy of her book "Between the Lines" will be available at special price
