The BEARR Trust Annual Lecture 2007

The BEARR Trust has pleasure in inviting you to its 2007 Annual Lecture

“Russia: towards a new isolationism?”

by Dr Alex Pravda, St Antony’s College, Oxford.

The lecture will be held at the European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD), One Exchange Square, London EC2A 2JN at 6pm on 19
September 2007.

Dr Pravda is one of the UK’s pre-eminent experts on Russian foreign policy
in the period after the Cold War, and a lively speaker. He is currently a
Fellow of St Antony’s College, Oxford, and previously worked at Chatham
House, at universities in the UK and USA, and as adviser to the House of
Commons Foreign Affairs Committee.

The President of the EBRD, Jean Lemierre, will welcome the guests.

The lecture will be followed by a reception, which will allow for further
discussion and networking with others with an interest in the field.

The BEARR Trust is an NGO dedicated to working with Russian (and other
FSU) and British NGOs to help develop the third sector in the region,
especially in the field of health and social welfare, and thus promote the
establishment of democratic and stable societies. The EBRD works to
build democracy and to bring sustainable prosperity to peoples and
countries from Central Europe to Central Asia.

Please bring along any friends and contacts who may be interested. There
is no charge for the lecture, but this is a fund-raising occasion for The
BEARR Trust, so guests are invited to make a minimum donation of £20 per
person. All proceeds will go towards BEARR’s work to support health and
welfare in Russia and the region and to strengthen civil society.

Please fill in the enclosed form and return it as indicated as soon as
possible, and at the latest by 10 September. Please note that you should
arrive in good time for the lecture, using the One Exchange Square
entrance only, to allow for security procedures. No tickets will be
issued, but you may assume that if you have sent in your form, places have
been reserved for you and your guests (who must be named).

We look forward to seeing you on 19 September for what is sure to be a
enjoyable and stimulating evening.
