THE NATIONAL BALLET OF CHINA
The National Ballet of China will be appearing for the first time at the
Royal Opera House, under the artistic direction of Sonia Zhao.
The Company will perform be performing two ballets: Raise the Red Lantern,
created especially for the National Ballet of China by Zhang Yimou, who
stunned the cinematic world with his astonishing depiction of a feudal
world in which a young woman is forced against her will to become the
concubine of an old lord; and Natalia Makarova’s entrancing production of
GUANGDONG ACROBATIC TROUPE
The Guangdong Acrobatic Company will be performing their extraordinary
version of Swan Lake which has taken the world by storm since its premiere
in 2006. Co-produced with the Shanghai City Dance Company, the ballet’s
seamless fusion of breathtaking acrobatic feats and magnificent classical
dance, has thrilled audiences worldwide
