To all fellow members of the GB-Russia Society
I hope you appreciate that at a time when the price of everything is
rising, and quite steeply, The Great Britain-Russia Society has managed to
keep its charges stable since 2002 when we re-launched.
In 2002 we charged £15 for membership from September 2002 until July 31st
2003.Members received 2 journals in that period. From August 1st 2003
until July 31st 2004 the membership was just £17 IF BY BANKERS STANDING
ORDER, and members received 3 journals. There has been no increase since
then. We want to hold our prices, and not to increase them!
Seat prices have remained at £5 throughout, although the Charity
Commission did not allow us to charge less for 'country members' or more
for guests.
Now all Banks are increasing charges for processing cheques.
So I ask all of you, if you are booking nearer the date of a talk for a
single meeting, to PLEASE BOOK ON LINE VIA OUR WEB SITE, as the Bank
charges are less for an internet payment than for a single cheque for £5.
It also helps us if all members pay their annual subs by Standing Order at
£17 (as opposed to £20 by cheque), and please sign a Gift Aid Form. It
costs you absolutely nothing, but allows the Society to claim between £4
and £5 back EACH YEAR from the Inland Revenue.
Yours sincerely
Daniel Salbstein
