KADMES Theatre (in association with Red Jelly Productions) presents
by The Presnyakov Brothers
Four Week Residency At The Greenwich Playhouse
‘A young and talented cast in an intense, fascinating and disciplined
production’ – Alan Geary, BBC, 2008
Terrorism, a play in six scenes, written by the Russian born Presnyakov
Brothers and translated into English by Sasha Dugdale, is to receive its
first professional UK production since its acclaimed premiere at the Royal
Court in 2003.
This new production by KADMES Theatre, which has transferred from a
critically acclaimed run in Nottingham, is to run for three weeks at the
Greenwich Playhouse in London from June 24th until July 20th.
The play is a black comedy featuring a young, energetic cast, delivering
sharp, witty dialogue.
Irritable passengers await the bomb disposal squad, a cuckolded husband
murders his wife, an office worker hangs herself, two old women plot
murder, police pore over photos of dismembered bodies…only at the
conclusion do we realise that these apparently unrelated stories are all
carefully linked, not just by plot, but also by a sense of fear and
Running at ninety minutes and with a soundtrack including music by Nina
Simone, Frank Zappa and Arctic Monkeys – this is a production that
along, providing laughs and painful truths in equal measure.
Director Martin Berry said: ‘This is a play that is even more relevant now
than it was in 2003. The play is not so much about bombs and hijackings,
but rather an examination of how we are all somehow complicit in a never
ending cycle of fear – a chain reaction of suspicion and judgement that we
seem unable to stop. As an exploration of living life under a constant
terrorist threat, Terrorism is a timely and all too relevant play for a
London audience and I am thrilled that we have been able to bring it
Show runs from June 24th – July 20th. Tues – Sat @ 7.30pm, and Sundays at

This is a rare opportunity to see a production of a modern Russian play in
London. We would love to see members of GBRussia there!
