The BEARR Trust 20th Anniversary Annual Lecture 2011

“Russia and the New World Disorder”
by Dr Bobo Lo

You are cordially invited to The BEARR Trust Annual Lecture, kindly hosted
by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), One
Exchange Square, London EC2A 2JN, at 6pm on 7 June 2011.

Sir Roderic Lyne KBE CMG, Vice-Chairman at Chatham House, former British
Ambassador in Moscow and Patron of BEARR, will introduce the speaker. The
new Head of Communications at EBRD, Jonathan Charles, will welcome the
guests.

Dr Lo is a leading independent expert on Russian and Chinese foreign
policy, and was previously Head of the Russia and Eurasia Programme at
Chatham House and Head of the Russia and China Programme at the Centre for
Economic Reform. His books include Axis of Convenience: Moscow, Beijing
and the New Geopolitics; Vladimir Putin and the Evolution of Russian
Foreign Policy; and Russian Foreign Policy in the Post Soviet Era:
Reality, Illusion and Mythmaking. Articles include ‘Russia, China and the
United States – from strategic triangularism to the post-modern triangle’
(IFRI, February 2010), ‘Medvedev and the new European Security
Architecture’ (CER, July 2009); and ‘Russia’s crisis – what it means for
regime stability and Moscow’s relations with the world’ (CER, February
2009).

The lecture will be followed by a reception, which will allow for further
discussion and networking with others with an interest in the field.

The BEARR Trust is an NGO dedicated to working with Russian (and other)
and British NGOs to help develop the third sector in the region,
especially in the field of health and social welfare, and thus promote the
establishment of democratic and stable societies. The EBRD works to build
democracy and to bring sustainable prosperity to peoples and countries
from Central Europe to Central Asia.

The lecture is free, and all are welcome. However, this is The BEARR
Trust’s main fund-raising event of the year, and guests are invited to
make an advance donation of £20 per person. All proceeds will go towards
BEARR’s work to support health and welfare and to strengthen civil
society.

All names must be given in advance, for security reasons, so please fill
in the enclosed form and return it as soon as possible, and at the latest
by 3 June. (To register on-line go to
http://www.bearr.org/en/event/lecture/2011/BoboLo) Please note that you
should arrive in good time, using the One Exchange Square entrance only,
to allow for security procedures. No tickets will be issued, but you may
