call for volunteer translators

29th October 2011

Dear All
Received from a member

Kind regards
Ute

A compelling project focused on children in Chechnya who have been
traumatized by war and violence is in great need of translation help. Your
assistance will involve a teacher's manual that Chechen psychologists have
created to accompany a trilingual book, Power of Goodness: Stories of
Nonviolence and Reconciliation which has been created especially for
Chechnya.

The project has already received (highly competitive) funding from the
United States Institute of Peace, but further funding is needed and is
currently being sought. It has also benefited from the extensive input of
dozens of other volunteers – authors, educators, child psychologists,
grant-writers, translators etc. – in the course of the past years.

Presently we need rough translations from Russian into English. They do
not have to be heavily edited at this time. The pages are written such
that several translators could be translating at the same time. Your help
will be invaluable.

The Power of Goodness project is a joint effort of Peacebuilding UK and
the Friends International Library, as well as a number of Chechen youth
NGOs. You can learn more at www.fil.quaker.org. Please call Janet Riley,
one of the coordinators of the project, at 240-389-1458 for additional
information and for specifics regarding your input, or email her at
janetneva@nullgmail.com.
