Dear All
Our speaker was to be Peter Pomerantsev and he was to address us on his
experiences working in TV in Russia, but I'm afraid his work has detained
him in the US and he will not be able to fulfil the appointment. (His
talk will be rescheduled at a later date.) However, David has managed to
find a very worthy replacement for him: he is Mr Robert Wareing, who for
many years was MP for West Derby and he was a key figure in the
Parliamentary All-Party Committee for Russia. He travelled to Russia many
times during the Cold War and his insights are unique and riveting. His
talk will start at the usual time of 6.30 for 7 pm, after the business of
the AGM has been concluded. His talk is entitled "Russia during the Cold
War – An MP's Perspective".
Kind regards
Ute
