Dear friends of Sputnik,

We have the pleasure of presenting the British premiere of “One Hour
Eighteen Minutes” by Elena Gremina on Wednesday the 16th of November.

“One Hour Eighteen Minutes” is a play which took Moscow by storm last year
last year – it weaves together the story of the largest case of government
fraud in history through real testimony. The play is an intimate look at
what happened to the lawyer, Sergei Magtnitsky, who tried to sue the
government for its blantant fraud. This is a detailed, dark but humane
look at the medieval side of modern day Russia.
Elena Gremina is one of Russia’s most important playwrights. As well as
being a playwright, GREMINA co-founded Teatr.doc in Moscow, which has been
instrumental in fostering political playwriting in Russia.

“Elena Gremina has posed the harshest, most pointed questions I remember
encountering in a Russian theater… ” Moscow Times
