What: Lecture – Total War – From Stalingrad to Berlin by Dr Michael Jones

Where: The Society for Co-operation in Russian and Soviet Studies (SCRSS),
320 Brixton Road, London SW9 6AB

When: Friday 18 November at 7pm. (Light refreshments from 6.30pm).

Cost of admission: 5 pounds, payable on the door.

Description: Dr Michael Jones talks on his new book, Total War, published
by John Murray in June 2011. Total War tells the story of the Red Army as
they freed Russia and the Ukraine from Hitler and fought their way to
Berlin. The book also reveals the horrors Soviet soldiers experienced –
the Holocaust, genocide and the mass murder of Soviet POWs – and the
trauma of defeat on Germany.

Michael Jones is a fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a member of the
British Commission for Military History and works as a writer, media
consultant and presenter. He has written books on the battles of Bosworth,
Agincourt, Stalingrad and Leningrad, and most recently The Retreat:
Hitler's First Defeat.
