Holocaust Memorial Day – Friday, January 27, 2012
You are cordially invited to join the Trustees of the Soviet Memorial Trust Fund at events marking Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) on Friday January 27 organised by the SMTF and Southwark Council, in co-operation with the Imperial War Museum London. HMD coincides with the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red (Soviet) Army in 1945.
The Mayor of Southwark, children from local schools, Holocaust survivors, representatives of the CIS Embassies in London, British WWII veterans, and other organisations supporting the SMTF will be present. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
10.00am – 10.30am
Gather in the Cinema of the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1 6HZ. Refreshments will be served.
Southwark Council’s commemoration on this year’s HMD theme of “Speak Up, Speak Out”.
Proceed with the Mayor of Southwark to the nearby Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park.
Act of Remembrance, led by SMTF Chairman Philip Matthews, at the Soviet War Memorial and Southwark Council’s Holocaust Memorial Tree.
