Act of Remembrance at the Soviet War Memorial in London
Victory Day – Thursday, May 9, 2013 – 11.00am
To mark the 68th anniversary of the Allied Victory over Fascism, you are cordially invited to join the Trustees of the Soviet Memorial Trust Fund [SMTF] in an Act of Remembrance at the Soviet War Memorial in Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park, adjacent to the Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, Southwark, SE1 on Thursday, May 9, 2013.
Please note that the Imperial War Museum is currently closed for renovations and therefore its facilities will not be available on May 9. There is a cafe in GMH Park which will be open on the day.

Standard bearers only are asked to arrive by 10.15am and report to the Parade Marshal, Peter Stoddart. Other participants are kindly requested to be present at the Memorial by 10.45am.
SeatingThere will be very limited seating available which is intended primarily for veterans and older participants (and those accompanying them), as well as organisations laying wreaths. The ceremony is expected to last for roughly one hour, so if you are able to stand, this would benefit others less able to do so. The co-operation and understanding of all those who attend on the day will be much appreciated.
Wreaths – It would be very helpful if wreath-layers could report to Ralph Gibson, the SMTF Hon. Secretary, on arrival. At least one seat will be allocated for each organisation laying a wreath.
If you intend to lay a wreath on behalf of an organisation, or to carry a standard, then it is essential that you let me know as soon as possible. This event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to simply turn up on the day. However, it would be very helpful to get a response from you in advance, by email or post, if you are intending to come along. And, of course, if you are in touch with anyone likely to be interested in this event, do please pass on this information, or ask them to get in touch with me.
If you would like to receive this information in PDF format, with the relevant reply form, then please send me a request. Similarly, if you no longer wish to receive SMTF information by email and/or by post, please let me know.
Regards
Ralph Gibson
