the funeral service for Kyril Zinovieff will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday 18th August at Saint Peter’s Church, Clapham Manor Street SW4 6BX and will be taken by Father Alexander. The burial will be at Chiswick cemetery at 1:30pm.
Daniel Salbstein writes: “The family would welcome as many members of the Great Britain-Russia Society who would like to attend.
Kyril died on July 31st, less than two months before his 105th birthday. He was one of the most remarkable, probably the most remarkable, member of the Society.
Although virtually totally blind by 2003 Kyril gave two marvellous talks to the Great Britain-Russia Society: in May 2003 on Saint Petersburg in its Tercentenary Year, and on his updated translation of Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina” in March 2009. Apart from his companion Jenny, Kyril had two sons, two granddaughters, a great grandson and a great granddaughter.
