Photographing in Russia

The next lecture on Wednesday 25 November will be “Photographing in Russia” by Richard Davies.
Richard is a trustee of ARCHITECURE AT RISK – a charity set up in England by people who know and love the wooden architecture of the Russian north. We work on the principle of finding communities who are already restoring and caring for their historical wooden churches. Together with them we define the best form of co-operation. Our first project, in 2015, was to have six church bells cast near Yaroslavl and transported to the village of Turchasovo, in Archangelsk oblast and hung in the newly restored bell tower. It is the first time that church bells have rung out in the clear northern air of that area since the tumultuous post-revolutionary years.
