To all members of The Gb-Russia Society
Luke Harding is being flown by “The Guardian” to the USA, so he has had to postpone his talk to us.
However, we shall have a talk in its place “SANCTIONS, WAR AND THE RUSSIAN ECONOMY”. This will be given by Dr. Richard Connolly, Director of the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) University of Birmingham, and an Associate Fellow on the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House. He has been HIGHLY recommended by Mr. James Nixey (the Head of the Russia & Eurasia Programme at Chatham House) as an outstanding expert.
SO PLEASE KEEP YOUR BOOKED PLACES FOR DECEMBER 19TH AND COME TO HEAR DR. RICHRAD CONNOLLY.
WE SHALL ALSO GIVE YOU FIRST PREFERENCE FOR SEATS WHEN LUKE HARDING CAN RETURN TO THE UK AND GIVE HIS POSTPONED TALK TO US.
Dr. Connolly will examine how 4 years of Western economic sanctions, an ambitious military modernisation programme, and wars in Syria and Ukraine have affected the Russian economy. Describing the impact of sanctions on Russia, and how the Russian state responded – in an effort to reduce their efficacy etc. Best regards, Daniel Salbstein (Talks Organizer).
