Dr Richard Connolly will give a talk entitled “SANCTIONS, WAR AND THE RUSSIAN ECONOMY”. Dr. Richard Connolly is Director of the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) University of Birmingham, and an Associate Fellow on the Russia and Eurasia Programme at Chatham House. He has been HIGHLY recommended by Mr. James Nixey (the Head of the Russia & Eurasia Programme at Chatham House) as an outstanding expert.
Dr. Connolly will examine how 4 years of Western economic sanctions, an ambitious military modernisation programme, and wars in Syria and Ukraine have affected the Russian economy. Describing the impact of sanctions on Russia, and how the Russian state responded – in an effort to reduce their efficacy etc.
