Dear Members of The Great Britain-Russia Society
We are extremely sad to announce the death on January 1st 2019, at the age of 92, of Emeritus Professor Richard Freeborn. He was a longtime and great supporter of the Society and the predecessor organisations, delivered many fascinating lectures, and wrote several beautifully crafted articles for the Society’s journal.
His cremation will take place on Thursday January 24th at 3.00pm at The Kingston (upon Thames) Crematorium, Bonner Hill Road, Kingston on Thames KT1 3EZ.
The 85 bus goes from Putney High Street to Kingston (but I am not sure how near to the Crematorium).
Check with TFL (Transport for London).
Alternatively, you can take the train from Waterloo station to Surbiton station, where there is a big taxi rank. I hope that several members will be able to pay their respects by attending the cremation. Alternatively, letters of condolence can be addressed to The children of the late Professor Richard Freeborn, 24 Park Road, Surbiton, Surrey KT5 8QD. Richard’s wife Anne pre-deceased him. They had 4 children and seven grandchildren. Yours sincerely, Daniel Salbstein
