The Soviet War Memorial commemorates the 27 million war dead of all fifteen former republics of the USSR – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
Standard bearers are asked to arrive by 10.15am and report to the Parade Marshal.
Wreath-layers should arrive before 10.30am and report to Ralph Gibson, the SWMT Honorary Secretary, near the Memorial. You will receive the order of wreath-laying.
All other participants are kindly requested to be present by 10.45am.
Seating: There will be very limited seating available, which is intended primarily for veterans and older participants (and those accompanying them). The ceremony is expected to last for roughly one hour, so if you are able to stand, this would benefit others less able to do so. The co-operation and understanding of all those who attend on the day will be much appreciated.
Parking: Limited meter parking is available on Lambeth Road and nearby streets. All participants are advised to arrive by public transport if at all possible.
Donations: Our activities depend on the continuing generosity of our friends and supporters. All organisations, in particular, are urged to consider making a donation this year. The easiest way to donate is via the SWMT website which provides a link to our online giving page. As the SWMT is registered as a charity with HMRC, we can now claim Gift Aid worth an extra 25 per cent on every donation from a UK taxpayer. You can also send cheques, payable to “Soviet War Memorial Trust”, to SWMT, 320 Brixton Road, London SW9 6AB.
Keeping in touch: Our intention is to switch increasingly to email notifications in order to reduce costs. If you are not already receiving these, subscribe via the website or email the Hon. Secretary. If you no longer wish to be notified about SWMT news and events, please let us know.
